A narrow-opening glass demijohn with capacity of 10 L. Intended for fermenting wine, beer, and mead, and for infusion liquors. The removable plastic casing enables washing the carboy thoroughly, while at the same time protecting the glass against shattering. The glass of which the carboys are made is sodium glass that features all the approvals for contact with food products. The advantage of glass carboys is their high tightness and possibility of “peeking” at the fermentation process. From the practical point of view, it is recommended to conduct the first fermentation in pulp in a fermentation container, and then - after the first siphoning and draining the fruit - to carry out further fermentation in a glass demijohn. Do not wash the demijohns in hot water and do not subject them to sudden changes in temperature (e.g. by moving from cold to warm environment). Excessively high temperature may damage the carboy glass. It is recommended to wash the carboys in lukewarm water with addition of potassium metabisulphite or Oxi Turbo solution.

How to use:

Glass should not be subjected to sudden temperature shocks, as excessive difference in temperature might lead to its damage. Before use, it is recommended to store the demijohn in room temperature for at least one hour. Do not pour water with temperature above 50°C over the demijohn. It is recommended to wash glass in lukewarm water with addition of disinfecting agents such as potassium metabisulphite or Oxi Turbo.

Due to high stresses occurring during turbulent fermentation, it is recommended to close the demijohn during that time with a less tight cotton swab, which prevents presumptive cracking of glass.

NOTE

Due to high stresses occurring during turbulent fermentation, it is recommended to close the demijohn during that time with a less tight cotton swab, which prevents presumptive cracking of glass.

- cork stoppers with diameter of 45/37 mm, without an opening for closing the carboy (952900, 653005)
