Recipe for pickled cucumbers in BBQ brine

Preparation:

  1. In a pot, combine the water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and BBQ sauce. Bring to a boil, then set aside to cool.
  2. Add the honey to the cooled brine and mix thoroughly.
  3. Wash the cucumbers, chill well, pat dry, and cut into slices, spears, or quarters.
  4. Place the garlic, charred onion, allspice, and pepper in clean jars, then pack in the cucumbers.
  5. Pour over with the cooled brine, then insert a jar weight and screw the lid on.
  6. Set aside in a cool place for at least 48 hours, or pasteurize and store in a dark, cool place.
