Distilling glass dephlegmator

Dephlegmator is a kind of initial cooler where vapour is subject to partial condensation and hence the distillate is enriched with an ingredient with a higher boiling point. The dephlegmator is made of durable borosilicate glass resistant to temperature changes.The dephlegmator is mounted vertically between the distilling flask and the cooler (distiller). A silicone (or cork) plug with a 9 mm hole (diameter) is used for connecting the distilling flask with the dephlegmator. An 8 mm diameter hose is used for connecting the dephlagmator with the cooler.The connection diagram is presented in the drawing below.It is recommended to use a dephlegmator to obtain high quality distillates.
