It allows establishing the degree of saccharification of the mash by determining the degree of decomposition of starch into simple sugars fermented by yeast.

For determining the degree of saccharification – it allows assessing the degree to which the enzymes have broken starch down into sugars that the yeast can absorb.
Easy to use – the iodine-starch test is simple to carry out at home.
Quick result – the iodine-starch test is quick to carry out and provides the answer regarding presumptive necessity of further mashing.
Convenient dosage – the bottle is fitted with a drop-meter, facilitating the dosage of the test solution and preventing splashes.
For 30 brews - 30 mL of the test solution is sufficient for conducting the test in about 30 brews.

Note: the product may create stains.

How to use:

1. Sample a small portion of the mash onto a teaspoon and move it onto a white surface, e.g. a small plate. Next, using the drop-meter, apply the test solution to the mash sampled.

2. If the sample becomes coloured navy blue (sometimes blue or reddish), it means that starch is present. No change in the colour of the test solution means that the mashing has been completed and the whole starch has been broken down into simple sugars.

Ingredients: distilled water, potassium iodide, crystalline iodine
