If you prize the elegance of simple, fruit-forward distillates, you’ll know the legendary taste of cherry eaux-de-vie that have captivated spirit lovers in Switzerland, Germany and Alsace for centuries. Traditional, crystal-clear cherry spirits are fermented with the pits, which lend subtle almond notes and a deep, pristine aroma. These drinks are simple in form yet wonderfully refined—their transparency conceals impeccable flavor. Inspired by these classics, we created the Sauer-Kirsche essence to deliver the distinctive, dry profile of pure cherry in a clear, modern form.
How to use the Sauer-Kirsche flavor essence?
“Liqueur” option:
Pour 4 L of high-proof alcohol (40–45% plain vodka) into a vessel, add 160 to 320 g sugar, then add the flavor essence. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved. Leave for at least 24 hours*—and your liqueur is ready. Enjoy!
*For the best aroma and flavor, we recommend enjoying the drink after about a week.
To make a smaller batch, use the bottle’s indentations to measure 10 ml of essence—one portion for 1 liter of alcohol—reducing the amount of sugar proportionally.
Flavor variants:
Ingredients: glycerin, water, flavoring, carrier: E 1518; acid: citric acid.
