Cooking at home means caring about the ingredients that end up on our plates. To give soups and meats an aromatic aroma and pronounced flavor, we often reach for spices and bouillon cubes. What’s hidden in such a cube? Huge amounts of salt, enhancers, and additives that we would certainly never want to add to the foods we eat. However, there is a way that will let you prepare delicious dishes without resorting to artificial additives — a 100% natural, homemade bouillon cube. Today, we’ll share the recipe with you!

Recipe for a healthy, homemade bouillon cube

Preparation:

Vegetables: wash and peel the carrots, parsley root, and celery stalks, then grate them on the coarse side of a vegetable grater. Dice the onion and the leek, and press the garlic through a garlic press. Place the chopped vegetables in a pot, add olive oil, the dried herbs, soy sauce, and water. Thoroughly crush the bay leaves, herbs, and whole spices in a mortar. After adding all the listed ingredients, simmer everything over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring from time to time. At the end of simmering, add a finely chopped bunch of parsley. Next, blend everything (preferably while hot) and transfer to previously sterilized jars. You can also portion the bouillon into ice cube trays and freeze it.

Note!

The bouillon cube will keep longer if you pasteurize the filled jars. The small amount of salt in the bouillon cube is intentional. It’s easy to oversalt — in this case, less is better.

Enjoy! ...because homemade is better!
