In Asia, ginger has been cultivated for over 3,000 years. Ginger was already used in the Middle East and in southern Europe long before the Romans. This ancient cultivated plant has many health properties: it aids digestion, soothes nausea and menstrual pain, reduces platelet aggregation, treats colds and migraines, reduces swelling, and improves concentration and mental performance. To find out how to make ginger liqueur with the addition of orange yourself, check out our recipe!

Recipe for homemade orange ginger liqueur

Preparation:

Scald the oranges well, then carefully remove the zest, making sure it is free of white pith (you can use a grater for this). Squeeze the orange juice. Peel the ginger and slice it. Place the ginger, orange juice, the vanilla bean, and half of the zest in a jar and pour in the alcohol. Pour 100 ml of water into a large pot, and when the water comes to a boil, add 1 kg of sugar. When the sugar begins to brown slightly, add 1 L of water, cloves, cinnamon, and the second half of the orange zest. Simmer over low heat until the caramel becomes clear, then cool and add to the jar. Set the jar aside for 2 weeks. After this time, separate the liquid from the remaining ingredients by straining it through a liqueur filtration bag. Set the drink aside in a cool place. Once the liquid has clarified, decant the liqueur off the sediment into bottles.

Enjoy! ...because homemade is better!
