Chałka is a sweet, fluffy, yeast bread braided into a plait. When it comes to the youngest, even the pickiest eaters will be tempted by it. However, it has plenty of fans not only among children.

It tastes best with butter, homemade jam, and cocoa. A fair warning: the homemade sweet braided bread from the recipe below is so delicious that there's a risk of eating it before it reaches the table. Together with the owner of the Instagram profile @we_grochy, we encourage you to make it yourself at home. Thank you for sending the recipe.

We invite everyone to send in their own, tried-and-tested recipes along with photos to przepisy@browin.pl. We'll be happy to publish them.

PREPARATION:

To start, add milk, sugar, 50 g of flour, and yeast to the bowl. Set time to 3 minutes, speed 2, temp. 37℃. Wait 10–15 minutes for the yeast in the starter to activate.

Next, add 400 g of flour, the eggs, and salt. Select the "kneading" program, time 2 minutes.
After this time, remove the dough from the bowl onto a floured board and knead in the raisins previously soaked for about 5–10 minutes in hot water.

Put the dough back into the appliance bowl and leave it for 1.5 hours. Then take the dough out and divide it into 3 parts, shape into ropes, and braid. Pinch at both ends to seal the dough.
Preparing the streusel:
Place the ingredients in the bowl and set the "kneading" program for 10–15 seconds.

Our customers

Preheat the oven to 200℃; meanwhile, brush the loaf with an egg yolk mixed with 2 tablespoons of milk and sprinkle with streusel; leave it on a baking tray, on baking paper, under a tea towel. Bake for 30 minutes.
This amount easily makes 2 loaves or one large one.
You can successfully prepare this homemade sweet braided bread from the recipe sent by @we_grochy in another similar appliance or by kneading the dough by hand.

Enjoy! ...because homemade is better!
