July is a month rich in fruit: sweet cherries, sour cherries, raspberries, apricots, peaches, and blackberries. You could say it's a fruit paradise. That's why it would be a shame not to make the most of it. Fruit is a source of valuable vitamins, as well as sugar that is much healthier than that found in sweets. Fruit therefore works great as a dessert on its own or as an addition to bakes. A good example is sour cherries, whose tart flavor pairs perfectly with the sweetness of cakes and buns. The recipe below for yeast swirls with sour cherries can be freely modified in terms of the filling, depending on your taste preferences or the seasonality of fruit. Homemade bakes guarantee a natural ingredient list, so you can serve them to children without worry. An additional advantage is the heavenly experience for our senses of taste and smell.
Preparation:
In the meantime, you can prepare the streusel by rubbing all the ingredients together.
Roll the risen dough out into a thin rectangle, arrange pitted sour cherries, other fruit, or jam on top, roll into a log, and cut pieces about 4 cm thick. Set the prepared swirls aside for 15 minutes to rise, then brush them with egg and sprinkle with the previously prepared streusel. If you're watching your weight, you can skip the streusel—the swirls will be lighter ;).
Bake for about 15-20 minutes at 160°C. Once cooled, enjoy the taste of delicious homemade yeast swirls with fruit.
