How to use:

Shake before use. Add 10 ml of essence per 1 L of drink. Mix thoroughly and leave to rest for at least 24 h*. To prepare a larger batch, use more essence in proportion.

*For the best flavor and aroma, we recommend enjoying the prepared drink after about a week.

IMPORTANT:

Using this essence will not produce a whisky or whiskey spirit drink that meets the requirements set out in point 2 of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labelling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008. Under that Regulation:

a) Whisky or whiskey is a spirit drink produced exclusively by carrying out all of the following operations:

- distillation of a mash of malted cereals and whole grains of unmalted cereals, or without the addition of those grains, which has been:

i. saccharified by the diastase of the malt, with or without the addition of other natural enzymes;

ii. fermented by the action of yeast;

iii. each distillation is carried out to less than 94.8% vol. so that the distillate retains the aroma and taste of the raw materials used;

iv. matured for at least three years in wooden casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 litres.

The final distillate, to which only water and plain caramel (for coloring) may be added, retains the color, aroma and taste derived from the production process referred to in points (i), (ii) and (iii).

b) The minimum alcoholic strength by volume of whisky or whiskey is 40%.

c) It contains no added alcohol, diluted or otherwise.

d) Whisky or whiskey is not sweetened, even to round off the taste, and no flavorings or any additives other than plain caramel (E 150a), used to adjust color, are added.

e) The legal name "whisky" or "whiskey" may be supplemented by the term "single malt" only if it is distilled exclusively from malted barley in a single distillery.
