How to use:

Shake the bottle before use, then pour into 4 L of beverage and add 200-500 g of sugar. Mix thoroughly and leave for a minimum of 24 hours*. For a smaller batch, use the bottle’s indentations to measure 10 ml of essence per 1 L of beverage and use a proportionally smaller amount of sugar.

*For the best flavor and aroma, we recommend enjoying the prepared drink after about a week.

IMPORTANT:

Using this essence will not produce a whisky or whiskey spirit drink that meets the requirements set out in point 2 of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labeling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labeling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008. Under that Regulation:

a) Whisky or whiskey is a spirit drink produced exclusively by carrying out all of the following operations:

- distillation of a mash of malted cereals, with or without whole grains of unmalted cereals, which has been:

i. saccharified by the diastase of the malt, with or without the use of other natural enzymes;

ii. fermented by the action of yeast;

iii. each distillation is carried out to below 94.8% vol. so that the distillate retains the aroma and taste derived from the raw materials used;

iv. maturation of the final distillate for at least three years in wooden casks with a capacity not exceeding 700 liters.

The final distillate, to which only water and plain caramel (for coloring) may be added, retains the color, aroma, and taste imparted by the production process referred to in points (i), (ii), and (iii).

b) The minimum alcoholic strength by volume of whisky or whiskey is 40%.

c) It does not contain added alcohol, whether diluted or not.

d) Whisky or whiskey is not sweetened, even for flavor rounding, nor are flavorings added, nor any additives other than plain caramel (E 150a) used to adjust color.

e) The legal name "whisky" or "whiskey" may be supplemented by the term "single malt" only when it is distilled exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery.
