How to use:

Shake the bottle before use. Pour the contents into 4 L of your drink and add 300–500 g of sugar. Stir thoroughly and leave for at least 24 hours*. For a smaller batch, use the bottle’s indentations to measure 10 ml of essence per 1 L of drink and reduce the sugar proportionally.

*For the best flavor and aroma, we recommend enjoying the prepared drink after about one week.

IMPORTANT:

Using this essence will not produce a whisky or whiskey spirit that meets the requirements set out in point 2 of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labelling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008. Under that Regulation:

a) Whisky or whiskey is a spirit drink produced only by carrying out all of the following operations:

- distillation of a mash of malted cereals with or without whole grains of unmalted cereals, which has been:

i. saccharified by the diastase of the malt, with or without the aid of other natural enzymes;

ii. fermented by the action of yeast;

iii. each distillation carried out at less than 94.8% vol. so that the distillate retains the aroma and taste of the raw materials used;

iv. maturation of the final distillate for at least three years in wooden casks not exceeding 700 litres.

The final distillate, to which only water and plain caramel (for colouring) may be added, retains the colour, aroma and taste derived from the production process referred to in points (i), (ii) and (iii).

b) The minimum alcoholic strength by volume of whisky or whiskey is 40%.

c) No alcohol, diluted or not, is added.

d) Whisky or whiskey is not sweetened, even for flavour rounding, and no flavouring or any additives other than plain caramel (E 150a), used to adjust colour, may be added.

e) The legal name "whisky" or "whiskey" may be supplemented by the term "single malt" only if it is distilled exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery.
