A stainless steel filtration column with a holder than enables suspending it is a very convenient and robust device that facilitates the process of purification / adjustment of flavour and smell of potable water and spirits. The device presented is sold in a set including a silicone hose, holder, clamp and a pack of coconut carbon (460 g).
Do you want your potable water to be properly purified and free of unwanted flavours and aromas? Do you make your own liquor and want to make sure it is of the highest quality? This filtration column will allow you to perform harmonisation, i.e. adjustment of flavour and aroma, while at the same time making sure that the liquid in it is as pure as possible. The ingredient required for that process is activated carbon (included in the set), which is perfect at absorbing all kinds of unwanted contamination and aromas.
By using this whole kit the substances having a negative impact on the quality of liquor and water will be absorbed thanks to the strongly porous structure of carbon and you will be able to enjoy the characteristic specificity of flavour and aroma of distillates. The filtration column is made of high quality stainless steel, thanks to which it is durable and will serve you for many years.
The plastic holder included in the set stabilises the hose at the edge of the container holding the liquid receives and prevents it from bending, while the clamp enables adjusting the distillate flow rate.
Column specifications:
- material: stainless steel
- two stub pipes with diameter of 8 mm, intended for silicone hoses,
- foot/base - enabling placing the column on a flat surface,
- holder at the top of the column - enables suspending the column under the condenser, for direct filtration during the distillation process,
- pipe outer diameter - 5 cm,
- filter height - 45 cm,
- total height with base - 50 cm,
- the column can hold 450 ml of activated carbon at once.
How to use:
1. Measure the right length of the silicon hoses for the upper and lower stub pipe and then pull them onto the stub pipes. Install the clamp intended for setting the flow rate of the liquid to be filtered on the hose connected to the lower stub pipe.
2. Pour activated carbon into the filter (prepared in advance in line with the instructions on the packaging) in such an amount that it fills the filter up to the height of about 1-2 cm below the upper transfer stub pipe.
3. Pour the liquid intended for filtration into the carbon-filled column from above, up to about 3/4 of its height.
4. Lower the hose connected to the lower stub pipe and unlock the clamp so that the liquid from the column starts flowing down through the hose. Once the liquid is at its top, place the hose quickly in the container with the liquid to be filtered and then place the whole container above the filtration column. Install the holder and the edge of the container and place the hose in it - thanks to that it will not move or bend during the filtration process.
5. Adjust the liquid flow rate using the clamp.
6. Put the transfer hose connected to the upper stub pipe in the container intended for receiving the liquid filtered.
In order to prevent presumptive contamination from passing from the carbon to the liquid filtered, the hose with the liquid received should be placed on a funnel lined with paper towel.
The set includes:
- stainless steel filtration column,
- silicone hose ø 7/9 mm (2 m),
- hose clamp,
- hose holder,
- coconut carbon (460 g)
