A refractometer intended for measuring the sugar concentration in beer wort, expressed in Brix degrees, and for determining the specific gravity (SG) of beer wort.
Before using the instrument, read the user manual supplied with it - and follow the instructions provided regarding focus adjustment, instrument calibration, sample testing, and cleaning of prism and plate.
If you are preparing homemade beer and want to know the sugar concentration in your beer wort, a refractometer will allow you to measure this quickly and easily. This meter will also help you determine the specific gravity of beer wort within the range from 1,000 to 1,130 SG. SG is the so-called relative density, i.e., a parameter specifying, in this case, the relation between the density of the wort examined and the density of model substance (water).
The design of the unit, employing ATC, or automatic temperature compensation, will ensure that you get accurate results. The instrument's indications are based on examining the refractive index of light (in simplest terms – the change in the direction of refraction of light when a sample is drawn onto the prism of the refractometer).
Range of measurement:
Accuracy: +/- 0.1% Brix
Automatic temperature compensation (ATC): 10°C~30°C (50°F~86°F)
The set includes:
- refractometer
- pipette
