Easy to use – the measurement is made in a direct way, which makes the areometer easy to use.
The mead meter is an essential device for mead makers. The areometer is used to measure the sugar content, and is graduated in the Balling degrees. Measurement range of the mead meter: 20 -50°Blg. The only saccharometer for meads available on the market with a scale of up to 50°Blg.
One of the features of the device is the coloured range of sugar concentration suitable for various types of mead:
39-47°Blg – dwójniak (A Polish mead, made using equal amounts of water and honey).
28-33°Blg – trójniak (A Polish mead, made using two units of water for each unit of honey).
22-25°Blg – czwórniak (A Polish mead, made using three units of water for each unit of honey).
The device also enables calculating the potential alcohol content of finished mead (12-18%).
Included in the set:
- a float (areometer) with the scale of 20-50°Blg
- a glass test tube.
Directions for use:
At the time of measurement, the tested solution should have a temperature of 20°C. Fill the test tube up to 2/3 of its height with the tested mead wort. The liquid should not contain any solid particles or gas bubbles. The amount of liquid should be enough to enable the test tube float to move freely without touching the bottom or the walls of the test tube. The reading is made according to the indications of the upper meniscus.
