Can the alcoholmeter be used for liqueurs and wine?

The alcoholmeter is intended solely for measuring pure alcohol and its mixtures with water. The addition of sugar in any form, as in liqueurs, wines, and other flavored drinks, causes a significant measurement error. Sugar affects the liquid’s density, which leads to inflated or understated results, making the measurement unreliable. Therefore, the alcoholmeter is not suitable for checking alcohol content in sweet homemade beverages.
