Chocolate bread recipe
Preparation:
Pour the yeast into a large mug, add 1/3 cup of warm water and half a teaspoon of sugar. Stir and set aside in a warm place to proof for about 20 minutes. Sift the flour into a bowl and mix with the sugar, cocoa and salt. Add 1 1/4 cups of warm water to the mug with the yeast. Pour everything into the bowl with the flour and mix. Add the chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate and mix again. Shape the dough into a ball, transfer it to a floured work surface and knead for 10–15 minutes. Transfer the dough to a bowl greased with oil, cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place to rise for about 1.5 hours.
Punch down the dough, turn it out onto a floured surface and divide it into two parts. Roll both out and then form two loaves by folding the sides of the dough toward the center. Place the loaves in a Roman baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place for 1 hour to rise. Halfway through the rising time, brush the loaves with the beaten egg.
Place the dish in the oven, heat it to 230°C and bake the bread for about 20 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 180°C and bake for another 20 minutes. Take the finished loaves out of the oven, cover with a cloth and wait for them to cool.
