Simple, quick, and impressive—green asparagus in Parma ham from a gas grill is the perfect snack for the grilling season. Tender, slightly crisp asparagus wrapped in aromatic ham and toasted on a hot grate develops an exceptional flavor and works great both as an appetizer and as a side to main dishes. A few ingredients, just a few minutes on the grill—and it’s ready!

Recipe for green asparagus wrapped in Parma ham from a gas grill

Preparation:

  1. Trim off the woody ends of the asparagus (about 2–3 cm from the bottom). Rinse and pat dry.
  2. Place the asparagus in a bowl, toss with olive oil, and sprinkle lightly with sugar, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  3. Wrap each asparagus spear in a slice of Parma ham. If the asparagus is very thin, you can wrap 2–3 together.
  4. Preheat the gas grill to medium-high heat (about 200–220°C).
  5. Place the asparagus on the grate or on a special vegetable grilling rack.
  6. Grill for about 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the ham is browned and the asparagus is al dente.
  7. Serve immediately—you can drizzle with a few drops of lemon juice or sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
