If you’re wondering how to add a touch of magic to your meals, we have a suggestion for you. Red buns with beetroot are the perfect base for sandwiches, stunning with their color and flavor. They’re surprisingly easy to prepare, and the effect they create on the plate means they disappear quickly. Beetroot purée gives them a beautiful pink hue that pairs perfectly with spreads and salads. Homemade bakery-style buns guarantee fresh bread and the satisfaction of making them yourself.

Recipe for beetroot buns

Preparation:

Pour 50 ml of water over the yeast and leave for 10 minutes to hydrate. Peel the previously cooked and cooled beetroots, blend into a smooth purée, and leave for 10 minutes to release excess juice, then drain it off. Place the flour in a bowl, add the salt, sugar, oil, yeast, and beetroot. Add 300 ml of water to start, and if needed during kneading, add a little more water. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, relatively soft but no longer sticking to your hands. Leave the kneaded dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour (until doubled in volume). After this time, shape the buns and leave them to rise for another 20-30 minutes at room temperature. Preheat the oven to 80-100°C and place the buns inside. After putting the buns into the oven, raise the temperature to 200°C for 20 minutes. We recommend baking on a pizza stone. The finished buns are perfect for homemade burgers.

Note:

Before baking, you can press/score the buns so they resemble poznańskie or Kaiser rolls. The buns should brown slightly on top, although it will be barely visible.
