Waffles are a snack enjoyed by both children and adults, and they are mainly associated with sweet toppings. However, you can add "savory" ingredients to waffles, which will give you a tasty and nourishing breakfast. You can successfully add various chopped vegetables to homemade waffles - both on top of the waffle and into the batter. Such vegetable waffles are a clever way to sneak healthy vegetables into a dish that appeals to picky eaters, as well as a zero waste option for using up products left in the fridge from other dishes. Our suggestion today is savory waffles with olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Tempted? We assure you it's worth it. We also encourage you to create your own waffle variations.
Recipe for waffles with sun-dried tomatoes and olives
Preparation:
Gently warm the milk and, when it is lukewarm, add the baker's yeast and sugar. Then set aside for about 15 minutes. Sift the flour into a bowl, add the eggs, oil, salt, and the prepared milk-and-yeast mixture. Mix everything thoroughly. Blend the sun-dried tomatoes together with the olives and add to the waffle batter. Mix the batter well again. Cover the prepared batter with a cloth and set aside for about 30 minutes in a warm place to let it rise slightly. After this time, pour the batter into a preheated waffle maker and cook until it turns golden brown. For the best crispy results, use a waffle maker with approx. 1600 W of power.
The finished waffles taste best warm - you can serve them with arugula, fresh vegetables, or your favorite sauce.
