How to use:

Pour the contents of the bottle into 4 L of your chosen beverage. Mix thoroughly and leave for 24 hours*. The bottle’s indentations let you measure 10 ml portions to flavor 1 L of drink. One bottle prepares 4 L of TENNESSEE WHISKEY–inspired beverage.

Using this essence will not produce a whisky or whiskey spirit drink that meets the requirements set out in point 2 of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labelling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications of spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008. Under that Regulation:

a) Whisky or whiskey is a spirit drink produced exclusively by carrying out all of the following operations:

- the distillation of a mash of malted cereals, with or without whole grains of unmalted cereals, which has been:

i. saccharified by the diastase of the malt contained therein, with or without the aid of other natural enzymes;

ii. fermented by the action of yeast;

iii. each distillation conducted at less than 94.8% vol., so that the distillate retains the aroma and taste of the raw materials used;

iv. maturation of the final distillate for at least three years in wooden casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 liters.

The final distillate, to which only water and plain caramel (for coloring) may be added, retains the color, aroma, and taste derived from the production process referred to in points (i), (ii), and (iii).

b) The minimum alcoholic strength by volume of whisky or whiskey is 40%.

c) It contains no added alcohol, diluted or otherwise.

d) Whisky or whiskey is not sweetened, even to round off the flavor, and no flavorings are added, nor any additives other than plain caramel (E 150a) used to adjust color.

e) The legal name "whisky" or "whiskey" may be supplemented with the term "single malt" only when it is distilled exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery.
