Useful tips for use:
- wine ready for bottling should be clear (transparent);
- for storing red wine, it is recommended to use green or brown glass bottles, which protect the beverage from light that may cause adverse changes to its color, while clear, colorless bottles are perfect for white and rosé wines, as they emphasize their delicate color and clarity;
- the bottles into which you intend to rack the wine should be sanitized (it is best to use 70% rectified spirit or a 2–3% potassium metabisulfite solution: 20–30 g of metabisulfite per 1 L of water);
- before corking the bottles, place the corks in boiling water for one minute - this will make them more pliable;
- fill the bottles by siphoning the wine from the carboy using a hose previously rinsed with a sanitizing agent. Minimize the time the wine is in contact with air;
- bottles intended for longer storage should be filled almost to the top, leaving only 1–2 cm of headspace, and in the case of wine that is to be pasteurized, this space should be larger, about 4 cm.
- corked bottles should be stored horizontally so that the wine constantly wets the cork. This ensures proper gas exchange and adequate tightness.
