Description

If you're planning on making home-made spirits, you've come to the right place. Our 5 L glass demijohn in a plastic basket will be suitable for beginners and small batches.

  • For fermenting wine, beer, and mead, and for infusion liquor - a narrow-opening 5 L glass carboy that will facilitate home production of your favourite liquor.
  • Safe and convenient - the removable plastic casing enables washing the carboy thoroughly, while at the same time protecting the glass against shattering.
  • Traditional advantages of glass - the demijohns are made of non-tempered thermal glass, which features all the approvals for contact with foodstuffs and alcohol.
  • Matching stopper - you will find a suitable stopper in our range that will protect your batch against oxygen, contamination and insects.
  • Wine under control - this glass carboy is characterised by high tightness and the possibility of “peeking”, enabling control over the course of the fermentation process!

The demijohns are handmade, so the shape of each one is to some extent unique, and the dimensions of the necks may vary minimally from one to another.

A narrow-opening glass demijohn with capacity of 5 L. Intended for fermenting wine, beer, and mead, and for infusion liquors. The removable plastic casing enables washing the carboy thoroughly, while at the same time protecting the glass against shattering. The glass of which the carboys are made is thermal glass, not hardened that features all the approvals for contact with food products. The advantage of glass carboys is their high tightness and possibility of “peeking” at the fermentation process. From the practical point of view, it is recommended to conduct the first fermentation in pulp in a fermentation container, and then - after the first siphoning and draining the fruit - to carry out further fermentation in a glass demijohn.

How to use:

Glass should not be subjected to sudden temperature shocks, as excessive difference in temperature might lead to its damage. Before use, it is recommended to store the demijohn in room temperature for at least one hour. Do not pour water with temperature above 50°C over the demijohn. It is recommended to wash glass in lukewarm water with addition of disinfecting agents such as potassium metabisulphite or Oxi Turbo

Due to high stresses occurring during turbulent fermentation, it is recommended to close the demijohn during that time with a less tight cotton swab, which prevents presumptive cracking of glass.

Demijohn capacity: 5 L ± 8%.

The demijohn is compatible with the rubber stopper with size of Ø41/37 mm (647041), featuring an opening for an airlock.

The demijohns and baskets are made of 100% recycled material.

Note:

price applies to 1 item.
