Need a product ideal for stabilising wines, juices and fruit musts? A 100 g pack of potassium metabisulphite will be an excellent choice!
Potassium metabisulphite is an agent commonly used in the winemaking and beer brewing industries, among others. Potassium metabisulphite protects musts and wine batches from spoilage. Stopping fermentation further protects the bottles from bursting!
Used for finished wines, it stops fermentation and stabilises the colour and clarity of liquors.
How to use:
Depending on the application of the agent:
1) for must stabilisation: 1 g per 10 L of must. Dissolve an appropriate portion in 50 - 100 ml of water, then add to the batch and stir thoroughly.
2) for stabilising wine / stopping fermentation before the wine is bottled: 1 g per 10 L of wine. Dissolve an appropriate portion in 50 - 100 ml of water, then add to the batch and stir thoroughly.
Potassium metabisulphite solution is unstable, so prepare it just before use. After rinsing the solution is not reusable. Due to the characteristic pungent sulphurous odour, it is recommended to use the product only in well-ventilated areas.
Did you know that... ?
The same substance is also an excellent rinsing agent for wine, brewing or distilling equipment. It is used at a ratio of 10 g per 2 L of water. The solution prepared in this way can be used to rinse balloons, fermentation containers, bottles, presses and barrels, previously washed with detergents and rinsed with water. Do not rinse with water again after rinsing with potassium metabisulphite.
