Thanks to roasting/baking under cover, all the vitamins and microelements remain in the food prepared. Roasting/baking in water vapour atmosphere allows retaining the diet-friendly properties of food. Fats and protein are not subjected to impact of high temperature, thanks to which they retain their most important health benefits.
The Clay baker is made of specially fired clay. That clay features pores that absorb water. When it is heated, the pot releases water vapours, leading to the food being prepared with the use of water vapour released from the pot walls and therefore braising in own juices. There is no need to add any fat to the dishes. The cover allows retaining more vitamins and microelements, as well as the rich aroma of the dish. Meanwhile, the round shape ensure uniform distribution of temperature during roasting/baking. This is important when baking bread or making meat roasts.
The Clay baker will also increase the variety of dishes eaten by vegans and vegetarians. The Clay baker is perfect for people on a low-fat or easily digestible diet. People who enjoy Georgian cuisine will also be able to prepare their favourite one-pan dishes in it.
How to use:
- Before each use, soak the pot in water for 10-15 minutes, immersed fully. Next, place it in a cool oven. Depending on what a given recipe demands, either heat up an empty pot or a filled one. After roasting baking you can remove the dish while its hot (e.g. bread) or leave it to cool down for the ingredients to bind well with one another (e.g. when you are making pâté). The way of using the pot should be adjusted to the recipe.
- Prior to baking bread, smear the pot surface with butter or coconut oil and sprinkle it with breadcrumbs or flour in order to facilitate taking the baked loaf out
- Do not place the pot directly over a gas burner or an electronic cooktop.
- The Clay baker must not be subjected to sudden temperature changes.
- Do not pour cold liquids into the pot when it is hot.
- The maximum recommended temperature of baking/roasting in the Clay baker is 200°C.
- The pot is intended for use in gas and electric ovens.
Washing and cleaning:
After using the pot it is necessary to soak it a few times in warm water and then wash it with a sponge or soft brush. Persistent soiling can be removed by using baking soda. From time to time it is worth boiling the pot in water with vinegar in order to neutralise smells. The product is not dishwasher safe.
After washing, the pot should be left to dry completely and then it should be stored open, best in a draughty place.
