A Roman pot with enamelled interior and a non-glazed cover is a piece of cookware that that combines the advantages of a standard natural clay pot and those of a coated cookware, either enamelled or glazed in another manner. This pot can be used for preparing delicious meat, vegetables, pastries, bread and a lot of other food. It is also excellent for storing bread.
Use fat or oil for baking in it. Some dishes you can also prepare without any fat whatsoever, using only a bit of water to achieve the appropriate level of humidity inside the covered pot. We recommend soaking the clay pot before use, thanks to which the water vapours released during baking will ensure that the dishes are more juicy. There is no need to soak the pot itself as it is enamelled. Thanks to the ceramic enamel, the aroma of food does not penetrate the pot walls, which makes it perfect for dishes made of more aromatic products (those aromas will only penetrate naturally the non-glazed lid). The bottom of the pot is properly corrugated, which prevents the food from sticking to it excessively. Thanks to glazing, cleaning and washing the pot is very easy. The pot looks excellent and has an even more attractive appearance thanks to the antique, geometric ornament decorating the lid. The large capacity and depth of the pot and its elongated shape will allow you to prepare large, family-sized portions or dishes to be eaten over a longer time, including fish or poultry, without having to portion them.
Please note! This piece of cookware must not be subjected to sudden temperature changes, e.g., it is not allowed to pour any cold liquid to a heated pot. A Roman pot can be used in an oven in a temperature of up to 250°C. Remember that the whole surface of the pot heats up severely, which necessitates the use of protective gloves. After removing the pot from an oven, place it on a wooden stand or a kitchen cloth.
Cleaning and storage: we recommend cleaning the enamelled pot interior manually, using a dishwashing liquid. Never use dishwashing liquid for cleaning the clay parts - use only hot water and in the case of major soiling, use kitchen salt and a sponge or a rigid brush. Store the pot with its lid turned upside down, best with a paper towel spacer than ensures access of air to the inside of the pot.
