An innovative, horizontal, shatterproof airlock intended for demijohns and jars that you can place on your larder rack. The airlock enables release of carbon dioxide during fermentation and securing the batch against access of flies and other insects.
The horizontal airlock is a product designed for use during fermentation. Its design allows it to save space. A demijohn or jar with a horizontal airlock has a lower height than a traditional vertical airlock. This makes it possible to place the vessels during fermentation, for example: on a shelf in the larder.
The airlock is made of high quality, durable material, thanks to which you do not need to worry that it will get shattered or cut you.
The material used for making the airlock has been approved for contact with food.
The airlock is compatible with a universal fermentation stopper with plug.
How to use:
An airlock filled with water is used in the fermentation process in order to protect the batch content against oxygenation, while at the same time enabling regular emission of carbon dioxide produced in the process taking place.
Thanks to the moving water gauge we can notice the changing intensity of the fermentation process - from the turbulent stage (intensive bubbling) to the stationary one. Water evaporation is natural, which is why it is necessary to remember to top it up in the airlock. Failure to do it may result in too intensive oxygenation of liquid, leading to oxidation of the ethanol created to acetic acid. This adverse process can also be caused by fruit flies that manage to enter the container.
NOTE:
in case of limited possibility to check the water level in the airlock, it can be filled with an oily liquid that evaporates to a lesser degree.
Every country has its own legal regulations governing the manufacturing of ethyl alcohol, wine products, and spirits, introducing them onto the market, and regarding sanctions for non-compliance.
